Classroom Expectations and Policies

  • Participation:

    • Participation points will be taken every class period. You will lose points for not coming to class prepared (no book, pencil, pen), for being off task, and behavior. If I have a substitute teacher and your name is on their note, you will lose participation points for that day.

  • Hall Passes:

    • If you need to leave the classroom for any reason, you will need to sign out with your agenda. You must have your own agenda in order to leave. After four sign outs, you will not be able to leave the classroom until the next quarter starts. This excludes emergencies, being called out, or needing to talk to another teacher.

  • Grades, Assignments and Late Work:

    • When homework is assigned, you are expected to complete it and turn it in when due. You will be given three extra days for completion. First day: Lunch Detention with Mrs. Long or Mrs. Carter; Second Day: 50% off the total points; Third Day: 0 for the assignment. This does not pertain to assigned work the student missed for an excused absence. Homework, quizzes, and tests are weighted the same. There is plenty of opportunity for the students to do extra credit.

  • Cheating:

    • If you are caught cheating in my class, it is an automatic zero. Your parent or guardian will be notified. You will not be able to make the test or quiz up. Talking before and after a quiz will result in a zero as well. You will also lose participation points that day.

  • Behavior System:

    • The students will get two chances in class to correct their behavior before filling out a behavior form. This form will need to be signed by the parent and student in order for the student to receive their participation points for the day.

  • All school rules and policies established in the handbook will be enforced.

  • No food, drink, candy, or gum allowed in the classroom.
